To access our Family Court Support service, clients must be referred through a “Request for Support” form submitted by a professional who has previously worked with them. This professional must recognise that the client has experienced domestic abuse and would benefit from one-on-one support to help navigate the family court process.
What is Family court support?
Our Family Court Support Worker plays an essential role in guiding individuals through the complexities of the family court system. They provide practical assistance by helping clients understand court procedures, explaining what to expect in the courtroom, facilitating requests for special measures, and clarifying the meaning and application of court documents.
Emotionally, they offer reassurance and support, helping clients manage the stress and anxiety often associated with legal proceedings. Additionally, they serve as McKenzie Friends, providing non-legal advice and assistance during court hearings to ensure clients feel informed and supported throughout the process.
Our goal is to empower clients, making their experience in family court more manageable and less intimidating.
