What a genius title and certainly one on a blustery day in February that attracted intrigued passers-by to Abingdon based legal practice Boardman, Hawkins & Osborne LLP (BH&O Legal). The cleverly named charity fundraising event is the brain child of The Access To Justice Foundation (ATJF). It is celebrated annually, but for the first time this year by the BH&O Legal team.
This country wide event encourages legal advice agencies, law firms and chambers to pop on an apron, get baking and hold a cake sale. 50% of the funds raised go to The Access To Justice Foundation, helping increase the provision of legal support to vulnerable individuals, and the other half of monies to a nominated charity. Flag DV were delighted to have been chosen by BH&O’s all-female partner legal practice as their charity for this year. Having provided pro-bono family law advice to the domestic abuse charity since the opening of their new firm in August 2018 the lawyers decided to step out of their more familiar world of mediation and family arbitration to embrace the challenge of avoiding a soggy bottom!
Amongst the sweet toothed customers were judges from the Family Courts of Oxford who helped to raise a whopping £170. A strong target to smash next year, we look forward to taking part ourselves so keep your eyes peeled for 2020’s Great Legal Bake Off!
